Softball Headed to State

The Lady Chargers softball team are headed to their seventh consecutive State Championship tournament.
The Chargers played their final home game against Riverside Sunday. The two teams were playing for entry into the State tournament.
The Chargers escaped with a 4-3 victory, which guranteed their seventh consecutive postseason appearance.
Caitlin McGrath, sophmore right fielder, led the way going three for four with two stolen bases and a run scored.
McGrath scored her run in the first inning after stealing second and advancing to third of a fielder's choice.
Sarah Strong, sophmore third baseman, batted her in with a single to right field.
The second inning was the inning for the Chargers they started off with three straight singles and ended up scoring three runs.
Riverside put up a fight scoring one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the sixth put it wasnt enough as the Chargers preserved there 4-3 victory.
Alyssa Frieght pitched a complete game giving up two earned runs on six hits and striking out four. She improved to 32-2 on the season.
As a team the Chargers improved to 52-2 and will take on the fourth seed from the North region which is still to be determined.
The first game will be played on Friday at 2 p.m. at Orange Terrace Park in Riverside. The Chargers will be looking to obtain their sixth State Championship in school history.
