The Lady Chargers swept the Tigers of Riverside on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the Cypress College gym. The match was the final match of the regular season. The Chargers finished the season with a record of 19-4. Their conference record was 12-2 and they are currently enjoying a 10 match win streak.

There are many Conference Championship banners and State Championship banners hung in the Cypress College gym representing all the sports except volleyball. The Lady Chargers made history Wednesday night when they won the Orange Empire Conference Championship.

Before the start of the match, three sophomores; Jazmine Samoa #10, Katie Saavedra #6 and Marina Samoa #12 were honored with bouquets of beautiful flowers. The three smiling athletes have accumulated numerous stats and achievements, while playing volleyball for the Cypress College.

The Lady Chargers started the night playing very strong and doubled the Tigers score during most of the first set. Several well placed kills allowed the Chargers to secure the first set 15-25.

The Tiger roared back during the second set. The teams traded points and the set was tied nearly every point up to 14-14. Then the Chargers tightened up their play and went on to win 19-25.

In the final set of the match, the Tigers played very competitively. The Chargers struggled to maintain a lead. Ultimately Cypress won the set 18-25 with a few aces and several soft touches at the net.
